A searchable list of the codes most providers use day to day, with their work RVU values in plain language. Search by code or by what it is.
Work RVUs are the work component of a code, the part that drives productivity and most bonus formulas. The values below are the 2025 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule work RVUs. This is a starting reference for the common codes, not the full code set, and the descriptions are plain-language summaries rather than the official wording. Use the search box to filter by code number or by a word in the description.
Verify before you rely on these
Work RVUs are updated every year, and your contract may use a different conversion factor or a custom productivity credit. Confirm any value against the current fee schedule before using it for a coding or compensation decision. For surgical and procedural codes, the Fracture Billing Calculator and the orthopaedic companion go deeper than this list.
No codes match that search. Try a different code number or word.
How to use this
Find your code, read the one-line description to confirm it matches what you did, and note the work RVU. To see how the level is supported, the guides on choosing an E/M level and on medical decision making walk through the reasoning. To track your own totals over time, the wRVU Tracker logs codes and shows your annual pace.
A note on the codes shown
The list covers office and outpatient visits, hospital and observation care, the emergency department, critical care, common injections and minor procedures, wellness and prevention, and care management. If a code you use often is missing, it can be added. The surgical and orthopaedic procedure codes live in the dedicated tools instead, where the modifier and global-period logic matters.
